  • Description: AVAILABLE NOW: Please check with me to see what is available. Ask if you have an interest in Show Quality dogs as I may have them available also.* 1 white female
    * 1 red male
    * 1 black male
    * 1 black femaleDON’T SETTLE FOR THE BACKYARD BREEDER online or in the newspapers! Many claim “champion lines” but are 5 generations away from an AKC Champion. Look at their pictures: disproportionate heads with big, bugged out eyes, crooked and twisted legs, bent / humped / or sloped back, short little legs that give them the look of a bassethound… not at all what a poodle should be. The majority of our puppies have at least 1 AKC Champion parent.

    OUR BREEDING PROGRAM: We breed for quality, health, and a sweet disposition. We believe that if you want to get a poodle, it ought to be a POODLE — one that fits the standard of the breed in good disposition, cuteness, health, and sweetness. I would not sell a dog to you if I was not confident that these dogs did not have the health they need to have to be a long-lasting companion.

    Do not be deceived by Backyard Breeders so commonly found online or in your local newspapers. I have written a MUST READ article titled “Questions to Ask a Poodle Breeder.” Even if you do not purchase an Abounding Poodle, please study and do your homework so you don’t end up with an unhealthy, nervous, destructive, and ugly toy poodle. Here is the address: http://www.aboundingpoodles.com/questions.htm

    HEALTH / GENETIC TESTS: Who wants to get attached to a dog, then have the dog go blind or die after a couple of years as a result of inbred genetic diseases? That’s why we have yearly CERF exams and our dogs are Optigen tested for PRA (DNA testing for the eyes). Poodles are prone to eye disease and you should not buy one that has not been tested, or you will spend lots of money at the vet later. It is estimated that 1 in 3 poodles are affected (type B or C). Our dogs are also OFA certified for their patellar luxation (knees). Knee problems also plague toy poodles, causing them to become crippled very early.

    Recently we have added also the Genetic Screening for Van Willebrand’s Disease (vWD). We want to offer you the best quality dogs possible.

    Please read the Health Concerns Section of our articles by clicking on this link: www.aboundingpoodles.com/articles.htm

    Thyroid, Heart, and Hips problems: These are not common to Toy Poodles and absent from my lines. The new owner may want to electively test the puppy for these problems and if existent, Abounding Poodles will honor the 1 year warranty against genetic diseases given proper documentation and upon the return of the puppy.

Miniature Poodle Information

Description
When groomed to show dog standards the body is meant to give off a square appearance. It has approximately the same length as the height at the withers. The skull is moderately rounded with a slight but definite stop. It has a long, straight muzzle. The dark, oval shaped eyes are set somewhat far apart and are black or brown. The ears hang close to the head and are long and flat. Both the front and back legs are in proportion with the size of the dog. The topline is level. The tail is set and carried high. It is sometimes docked to half it’s length or less to make the dog look more balanced. Dewclaws may be removed. The oval shaped feet are rather small and the toes are arched. The coat is either curly or corded. It comes in all solid colors including black, blue, silver, gray, cream, apricot, red, white, brown, or cafe-au-lait. While it does not make the written show standard, some breeders are breeding parti-colored poodles. See grooming for different types of poodle clips.

Havanese Information

Description
If never primped, clipped or altered in any way, the Havanese gives a rugged impression in a little dog. The legs are strong and allow for free and easy movement. The dark eyes and long tail are covered with long silky hair. The profuse coat varies from wavy to curly. The Havanese is a double-coated breed with soft hair, both on outer and undercoat. Adult coat reaches 6 to 8 inches, and has a pearly sheen. Some Havanese carry a short haired recessive gene. If two Adults with this recessive gene have a litter of puppies, it is possible that some of the puppies will be born with smooth coats. A Havanese with a short coat cannot be shown and is a serious fault in the show arena. Some have nicknamed the Havanese born with short coats Shavanese. Eye rims, the nose and lips are solid black on all colors except the true chocolate dog. The Havanese comes in any color, including cream, gold, white, silver, blue, and black. Also parti and tricolors. In North America, all colors are recognized, no preference is given to one color over another. Black and chocolate are preferred colors with many North American breeders. A chocolate Havanese must retain at least a 1 inch (2.6 cm.) patch of chocolate hair. Chocolates also have green or amber eyes. In some European Countries the black and chocolate dogs, were not always recognized. But the black dogs have been recognized for several years, and the Chocolate dogs are now recently recognized. The gait is unique, lively & ’springy" which accentuates the happy character of the Havanese. Tail is carried up over the back when gaiting. The breed is of solid physical type and sound constitution. The Havanese gives a rugged impression of a little dog, it is sturdy, and while a small breed, it is neither fragile nor overdone.

Maltese Information

Maltese

Description
The Maltese is a small, hardy dog with silky hair. The body is compact, fine-boned, but sturdy and slightly longer than it is tall with a level top line. The chest is deep. The skull is slightly rounded on the top with a moderate stop. The medium length muzzle tapers, but not to a point. The pendant, low-set ears are set close to the head and heavily feathered. The black eyes are large, round and set moderately apart with dark rims. The nose is black with open nostrils. The dog has a silky, single layer coat that is white or light ivory. When kept long and groomed like a show dog, it hangs flat, long over the sides of the body almost to the ground (about 8½ inches (22cm.)) hanging on each side of a center part line and is not wavy, curly or kinky. A lot of owners choose to cut the coat into a short, easy care puppy cut.

Temperament
The Maltese is spirited, lively and playful. Gentle, loving, trusting and devoted to its master. Highly intelligent. Good at learning tricks. Bold and quick to sound the alarm in case of suspicious noises. It is a classical companion dog; graceful and lovable. They do well with other non-canine animals and other dogs. Maltese love to play outdoors. Some like to jump in puddles. May be difficult to housebreak. If you feed them table scraps, they can become picky eaters. Do not allow these dogs to develop Small Dog Syndrome, human induced behaviors, where the dog believes he is pack leader to humans. This causes a varying degree of behavior problems. If the dog believes he is boss, he can be snappish with children and even adults. Do not over-pamper or overprotect these little dogs, for they will become unstable, and some may become jealous of visitors. Maltese who are allowed to take over the house, being boss of the humans can also develop separation anxiety, guarding, and obsessive barking. These are not Maltese traits, but rather behaviors brought on by the way the dog is treated by the people around them. These behaviors will go away when the dog is surrounded by stable pack leaders.
